Rules of Helpdesk

<BR />1. MY NAME IS MARKLYN, NOT MARLON, NOT MARCO, NOT MARILYN,

MARKLYN, M A R K L Y N… HOW CAN PEOPLE WITH GREAT COLLEGE EDUCATIONS

SUPPOSE TO BE IN A FIELD WHERE LISTENING SKILLS ARE MAJOR NOT UNDERSTAND

MARKLYN. I DO NOT SPEAK IN SLANG OR ABBREVIATED LANGAUGE… M A R K L Y N….

<BR />2. When calling the Service Desk remember I am not some foreigner or contractor I

am a fellow employee give me the same respect you would want in return.

<BR />3. When telling me the issue please take your time and explain it clearly so I can

give you a proper answer

<BR />4. When trying to resolve issues sometimes we speak out loud to get a better idea

of what is going on. Do not get angry because I am simply trying to solve the problem for you

and need detail

<BR />5. Do not tell me what use to work and since this or that was changed on the

network caused the issue. 9 times out of 10 that is not the problem it’s either an I D 10T issue or

something that just happened.

<BR />6. Stop asking for reasons why this happened. In cases of a corrupt file or a

reconfigure simple everyday use is the issue and since you have to use the pc everyday it will

happen.

<BR />7. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT TELL ME THE PROBLEM AND THE SOLUTION

BEFORE I OFFER ANY SOLUTION. IF YOU KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS THEN DON”T

CALL THE SERVICE DESK.

<BR />8. When calling the Service Desk and someone does work … i.e. installs a cleanup

tool (CC cleaner) or some other item to clean. If your Hard drive crashes it was probably on its

way out and that would not crash your system. If you do not know what you’re talking about stop

acting like you do. Just because you program some applications does not mean you know my

job. If you did you would not call. I don’t call Comcast tech support to solve my issues so why

would you call me if you knew what the issue was…

<BR />9. Stop thinking a computer is like a car and you can tell me well if I do this and I do

that this is what happened. JUST STICK TO THE FACTS AND LET ME WORK ON THE

ISSUE..

<BR />10. ONCE AGAIN PLEASE REMEMBER GIVE ME THE RESPECT YOU WANT IN

RETURN AND LET ME DO MY JOB
