1 Kings 3:16-28Contemporary English Version (CEV)

Solomon Makes a Difficult Decision
16 One day two women[a] came to King Solomon, 17 and one of them said:

Your Majesty, this woman and I live in the same house. Not long ago my baby was born at home, 18 and three days later her baby was born. Nobody else was there with us.

19 One night while we were all asleep, she rolled over on her baby, and he died. 20 Then while I was still asleep, she got up and took my son out of my bed. She put him in her bed, then she put her dead baby next to me.

21 In the morning when I got up to feed my son, I saw that he was dead. But when I looked at him in the light, I knew he wasn’t my son.

22 “No!” the other woman shouted. “He was your son. My baby is alive!”

“The dead baby is yours,” the first woman yelled. “Mine is alive!”

They argued back and forth in front of Solomon, 23 until finally, he said, “Both of you say this live baby is yours. 24 Someone bring me a sword.”

A sword was brought, and Solomon ordered, 25 “Cut the baby in half! That way each of you can have part of him.”

26 “Please don’t kill my son,” the baby’s mother screamed. “Your Majesty, I love him very much but give him to her. Just don’t kill him.”

The other woman shouted, “Go ahead and cut him in half. Then neither of us will have the baby.”

27 Solomon said, “Don’t kill the baby.” Then he pointed to the first woman, “She is his real mother. Give the baby to her.”

28 Everyone in Israel was amazed when they heard how Solomon had made his decision. They realized that God had given him the wisdom to judge fairly.

Good Morning my friends Persistence. Persistence is a word you need to become comfortable with. The word persistence is about repetition.

Yes you read that correctly persistence is about repetition. You have to start what you want and keep going. Don't stop no matter the obstacle.

Yesterday the videographer canceled on MisterDirect. Then last minute another friend volunteered to help out.

The desire to get it done allowed MisterDirect to hit Brooklyn NY and get some great footage. How? Persistence, not allowing anything or anyone to interfere in what has to be done.

If you are an athlete a dedicated athlete you understand that persistence and repetition are crucial.

Wayne Gretzky is highly regarded as he best Hockey player ever. He was not the biggest, he was not a fighter, matter of fact there was an unwritten rule you don't touch him.

At the end of every game Wayne Gretzky would line up a hockey puck and in a window there's a small 2 inch opening. Gretzky, would target that 2 inch clearing non stop. If he can get the the puck in that 2 inch clearing imagine taking aim as a 3 feet tall 5 foot wide goal.

After loosing a game by 1 foul shot, Kobe Bryant (now it kills MisterDirect to use him as an example) yet this so pertinent to the story. He stayed after a game tired and exhausted and shot free throws and would not leave until he made 20 in a row. That's persistence.

You have to be persistent in everything you do. While it seems crazy to obsess, you have to be honest with yourself and know that persistence will pay off.

Amazing focus to see what you desire and never allow anyone or anything deter you from achieving. There's a reason horses have blinders.

Their blinders are in place to help them focus on winning the race. When they get a glimpse of the other horse they crash. Other horses crash with them. But the horse that still has blinders and is winning keeps on going to eventually win the race.

Your chase and drive have to be considered maddening to the world. You have to shut out the negative words. You have to shut down the negative actions that don't help you.

Your dream, your goal has to become your disease, your obsession. Remove the fear of failure and know the failure is only a segway to achieve.

You must become so focused those on the outside think you are crazy. You must become so focused people think you have no clue about reality.

Your reality has to be created in your mind. You have to see it. You have to smell it. You have to taste it.

Be the basketball player. Be the author, be the mechanic. The best part of being these things is because you will eventually find out what you are meant to do.

I'm sitting with a man from the U.K. He's telling me about his dream to be a musician. He's dyslexic. His older brother and sister are musicians. He just wanted to be like them. So he started doing music and realized by his focus and determination, that he was given the gift of being an exceptional sound engineer.

That is the focus, the drive, the passion. YOU MUST BECOME SO FOCUS EVERYONE THINKS YOU ARE CRAZY.

Right now someone is running 65 flights is stairs, you are barely moving. They have conquered their fear and decided to work at their dream. You are still paralyzed about your dream.

While I'm telling you this, I have to admit often I'm paralyzed by my dream. Oh you thought this was all easy? You thought I woke up knowing what I wanted to do what I wanted to be.

Imagine a young kid who has never felt in place. Never felt part of the party. Never felt to be one of the cool kids. That would be me.

EMD.. Emotional behavioral disorder. I use to get into so much trouble for stupid things I had to get tested. After testing they go over the results. That was 10th grade.

Reading college level. Comprehension college level. Math age appropriate. I hated math. Just nothing to it. English class who cares.

SPORTS I graduated school 125 lbs soak and wet. Not much I'm going to do with sports so I thought.

When I graduated my father who was a college graduate wanted me to go to school. Any school, I had no passion for school. Some how around 19 I slowly feel in love with playing basketball.

For the next 7 years odd jobs bouncing around sometimes taking courses I decided basketball was my focus. I wasn't great but I could play. I had days that I was unstoppable for the level of game I was playing. But that was my focus.

People use to laugh because I would talk trash and play ball. Play ball and talk trash.... I wasn't going to be the next Jordan. I wasn't going to end up in the NBA, but I loved playing it became apart of who I was.
